We have all been in situations that were toxic for us. Whether it was in a relationship, friendship, or even a work environment. Sometimes some situations are harder to notice, than others. As years go by, as you begin to grow, you slowly start to see who and what is good for you and what isn’t.
If I have learned anything over the years, it’s that if something drains you, then it is your choice to change it. You reach a point of understanding that you and you only, are responsible for who and what you allow in your life. You begin to walk away from situations that are unhealthy for you. Anything that affects your happiness, your vibes, and who you are as a person, must go.
I know it may seem difficult to see at this very moment, but I promise you, eventually you will reach a point in your life, where you realize some people, some arguments, and some things are not worth your time.
We all have been through things that we do not like to discuss, although if it weren’t for those things you went through, you would not be where you are today. It’s time to start looking at your past for what it is. A lesson. Learn from the past and grow.
After making choices for myself, I began to find myself and fall in love with who I was becoming. Working hard towards my goals I had set for myself, I accomplished one by one. Leaving all those negative people behind, opened up the door for new relationships. I met a man who brings out the best in me. I made friends who spread love and positivity. I found myself smiling and was happier than I ever been. I began doing the things I enjoyed most. Writing, photography, and going to music festivals.
Do not let your past define who you are. You can change your life around, you just have to make choices based on what is best for you. Focus on yourself, your goals, and where you want to be in life. The things you went through, will show you what you want and don’t want. If someone mistreats you, that defines them, not you. Just let it go. Some things are better left unsaid. Allow peace to fulfill you as you grow daily.
Live your life, learn from the lessons, let go, and grow!
“Letting go means to come to the realization that some people are a part of your history, but not a part of your destiny.“Steve Maraboli
