Let’s Talk Goals!
First and foremost, we all have something in life that we want. Whether it be a specific job, a new car, to lose 30 lbs., or even become a well known painter. As humans, we want to live a happy and successful life. Although, success is not just about making a lot of money and having no worries in the world. Success is when someone sets goals and does everything they can to achieve those goals.
When I was in college, I remember a few of my instructors asked what our short-term and long-term goals were. As a college student, we had some idea of what we wanted to do with our lives. If we didn’t, would we be attending college? As our instructors asked each and every one of us, some of us were at loss for words. One thing I have learned is not very many people think about goals. They develop wants, yet does not think of what it will take to get that. The thing about goals, you want to differentiate your short-term goals and your long-term goals. Prioritize what is important, and what can be done each day, to reach those goals.
I learned that a short-term goal is something that can be accomplished anywhere between 2-4 years. A long-term goal is something that can take anywhere between 5-8 years.
When wanting to accomplish your goals, there may come a time where you don’t feel like you can do it. Do not get discouraged and give up so easily. Even the best, has had their fair share of setbacks. You learn and grow from them. If you really want to accomplish a goal, you will work until you accomplish it. Anything is possible and any goal is achievable.
So here is what I want you to do. I want you to think of one of your long-term goals. What is something you want to accomplish, yet it may take a little longer to get? Once you are in that mindset, think about the stepping stones that it will take to reach that goal! What are 5 different things you can do today, to help you reach that goal??
Now, after thinking about this long-term goal and the stepping stones, be sure to do something TODAY, that will put you one step closer to achieving that goal! I know that you can do it! I did!
